Olivia Walker has been in many groups and is known many names; however, these days when she enters a room or takes a stage she’s Just Liv.

Born and raised in Los Angeles’ Crenshaw District there was never really an era of Liv’s life that she didn’t find herself before an audience. Simple Christmas performances led to oratorical contests, then to choir risers, lead roles in musicals, band chairs, dance recitals, national anthems before sporting events, ceremonies and melodies for matrimony. There was always an element of praise and worship in her life. Beyond the walls of the churches she attended, her grandmother Ivory and great aunts lead powerful prayer circles at family gatherings, where their angelic voices blended breaking burdens and yokes in the name of Jesus. This backdrop was a priceless foundation.

Liv was always passionate about music and songwriting. She always escaped to the sounds of her heroes, her childhood a never ending stream of albums, Never Die Young, Music Box, Off The Wall, Cooleyhighharmony, Innervissions, The Miseducation, Aijuswanasang, Mama’s Gun, The Writings on the Wall, God’s Property, The Body Guard, The Preachers Wife, Secrets, Confessions, Fly or Die, Dangerously In Love, Continium, to name a few. With these influences etched in her heart it’s no surprise that here college exodus would lead her on a deep musical journey as she stepped out as the lead vocalist of (college) band Calico Panache.

The time Liv spent in Jackson Ms, while attaining an English Degree at Tougaloo College, was the catalyst that took her early experience on stage and natural vocal ability to the next level. She was groomed as a performer before college events concerts, juke joints and high end bars downtown, praise teams in the delta and mega churches alike. Calico Panache’s path lead Liv to 106 and Park’s Wild out Wednesday, open for artists Miguel, and impromptu duet with Eric Benet, a single on the radio as well and several other gig outside the band.

The 6 years spent away from home was something like a vocal adolescence. Olivia had found her voice. Her return so Los Angeles (2013) has been a consistent grind. Having not come up in the local music scene, there was much work to be done to become apart of this large entertainment community. Liv set out to every event, bar, jam session and studio session she could find while establishing her name and voice in the city. The past 6 years have been filled with growth and wonderful opportunities, not to mention extreme sacrifice, focus, and just enough mistakes to learn from.

Liv’s development as a session singer, background vocalist, live performer and lyricist have lead her to this moment. In 2019 having played live shows and recorded for artists ranging from Donny Robin Thick and Willow Smith to The Game and Kanye West, Liv is ready to finally release a project of her own. Self titled Just Liv, will release late May. Written by Liv and Produced by her partner in life and music, Budda Foster, this project is a culmination as well as a new beginning for the LA sunflower.

Liv’s sophomore Ep, “Can I Liv" was released May 2020 on all streaming platforms.
